About Our Centennial

On Aug. 8, 1925, a group of businessmen and leaders made an unprecedented decision favoring educational access for working adults. They opened a private school to teach law and business in the heart of Baltimore. Now in 2025, we're celebrating the 100th anniversary of that innovative idea, and everything it has made possible, with a full year of celebrations.

PROUD PAST, BRIGHT FUTURE

The University of Baltimore will use its 100th year to reflect on its remarkable history, celebrate its present and imagine all the possibilities of its future.

"Our centennial should be more than a celebration. The occasion should set UBalt on a positive trajectory for its second century," University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke says.

On Feb. 2, 2022, Schmoke announced the formation of the UBalt Centennial Celebration Planning Committee. This committee has worked to developing a year-long series of special events to commemorate this historic event. Special collections and exhibitions, unique local partnerships, oral histories and videos, and a culminating celebration are just some of what we have to offer.
